A San Diego, CA native and an artist since childhood, SunRa began painting UV reactive tapestries when she discovered psychedelic trance in 2005. Before psytrance entered her life spiritual fulfillment, manual consciousness expansion techniques, reality bending and intentful manifestation took up most of her attention.
After being introduced to the scene in the Mojave Desert of central California she was ecstatic to find that she had finally found what she had been looking for in an alternative creative community. The psychedelic trance scene was perfectly suited to expressing her creativity and devotions of heart through art, music, dance and community. SunRa then made a six month trek up north to Oregon exploring the Goa Culture of the pacific north west.
SunRa moved to Arizona in 2006 where she invested her time in the local psy community, Overmindworks. Always one of the few stompers to make it through the night and still be going at noon during the final set, she contributed many hours doing live UV painting on her tapestries, adding a much needed creative energy to the small but growing desert scene. It was here that she met her partner in life, the Professor, and it was then that she began to DJ. Together they began hosting their first Family only psy parties in their home.
Now located in Central Illinois on a large farming property, SunRa and the Professor have been hosting larger weekend-long psytrance events as MetaTrance. In collaboration with the Chilluminati they’ve hosted such events as Secret Fire and Karmaclysm.
While she’s assisted the Professor in many a SUNdazeKool morning set, she prefers to shine a shamanic light in D’ ARKness. With an elegantly TRIbal taste for the heART and heavy (even if it’s hillbilly TRIbal;-) she works with energy alignments and field harmonic amplification techniques to assist cosmic connectivity whether she be DJing or painting.
