ReverbSoul (aka Jay or Justin) has been doing photography, and other arts since around 2008 and maybe before.  Taking many angles on art it would be hard to describe one mode of art for him.  Photography is one of many ways he expresses himself, among others would be painting, object manipulation, and mixed media collaborations.

Having a feeling that the best way to express yourself is to show other what you see, he bought his first SLR camera before a trip to Florida in 2008.  After returning to central Illinois he focused on showing people the world through his eyes, or lens.  Straying away from basic photography he captured images and events that were inspiring to him.  This led to many photos of parties, dancing, light manipulation, and fire performance.  All of which he still enjoys, and is inspired by today.  Taking a two month trip to the west coast in the spring of 2010 spawned an appriciation of the more traditional photography, and got him familiar with how most photographers use their cameras.  Many scenic shots, and 7000 miles later he returned home and invested in a new camera.

With new gear came new ways to explore his environment.  Starting with two MetaTrance parties during the summer of 2010 he has now been experimenting with long exposure, lighting, and more performance art.  Capturing others performing has lead into a new development of photography and art, light painting.  Since late summer 2010 light painting has become a prime interest.  Capturing movement, light, interaction, and expression through the lens is becoming one of his biggest endevours.  Creating new ways to attach LED’s, cold cathode lights, christmas lights, pen lights, flashlights, turntables, and anything and everything in between and beyond he has moved to a new realm of development.  While holding on to some of the fundamentals that has brought him to where he is today, he is now exploring new realms of possibility within photography and lighting.

Being 23 years of age he is now looking forward to the many steps and paths ahead of him, and hopes that you may all take that journey along with him.  Through light, and experience we may all come to reach a new level of creation and invention.
